Though we will do our best to keep you looped in for any possible updates, we highly recommend that you reach out to us if the instructions below do not work for you. || Our servers are always updated, so make sure Valheim is updated on Steam before connecting to prevent a version mismatch. We also recommend that you disable/turn off any mods that require a server counterpart to prevent any issues. Congratulations on setting up your Valheim server! Now that you've completely set up your server on ValheimServerHosting, it's time to play the game. As of writing, there are two recommended ways to connect to your Valheim server — Direct Connect and through the Steam Server Browser. For both of these methods, you'll need to take note of your server details.

Where can I find my server's details?

Your server details can be found in the Server Confirmation Screen, "Your Servers" pane in My Dashboards, and your server's main dashboard.

If you've ever wanted to set up your own Valheim server but didn't want to deal with the complexities and headaches of doing it by yourself, you've come to the right place! Gone are the days where you have to have an FTP client to download and save files and guess how to make something work. ValheimServerHosting.com offers a quick and easy way to create and manage Valheim servers for you and your friends.

How do I create a Valheim server?

There are two ways that you can create a server with us. You can create either a trial server or a paid server.

Creating a Trial server

|| Trial servers are offered in two different flavors: 24 hour trials and 8 hour trials. 24 hour trials are only for new users, while 8 hour trials are for existing users. Trial servers can be created right from the ValheimServerHosting home page. All you need to do enter is your email, password, and preferred server region! 24 hour trial users do not need to provide billing information of any kind until they are ready to pay.

After entering those details, you'll be led to the server creation screen. From here, we'll allocate resources, generate your world, and secure your server with a password. This process can take anywhere from 1-5 minutes in total.

How do I change my Valheim world's name?

Currently, we do not support changing your world's name directly on the server dashboard.

You need to do one of the following workarounds:

Renaming an existing world with progress

If you want to rename your world and have existing progress, we recommend that you do the following workaround:

Download your current world backup from the server dashboard
After downloading your current world backup, you should have two files ending with a .db and .fwl extension.
Rename these files to your desired world name. Make sure you don't remove the .db and .fwl extension, as not including these will cause world upload to fail!
Upload your world through the server dashboard.
Once your world is uploaded, load it to your current server though the world management menu in the server dashboard!

Uploading a new world

If you don't mind starting with a new world seed or don't mind losing your progress, you can always create a new world name and upload that one!

Create a new Valheim world through Single Player
After creating a new Valheim world, exit your game and navigate to where Valheim stores its local saves. As of writing, it is usually saved in C:/Users/[your windows username]/AppData/LocalLow/IronGate/Valheim/worlds.
Once you're in the Valheim worlds folder, look for your newly created world's .db and .fwl files.
After finding your world's .db and .fwl files, upload them to your server through the "Upload New World"

How do I add myself or other people as admins?

||| This feature is only available for users who have paid for their server. Unlike other providers, we won't hassle you and require you to know how to use FTP to change text files. ValheimServerHosting provides an easy to use interface that allows you to easily change Valheim server settings without leaving your web browser.

Accessing and editing adminlist.txt

Valheim assigns server admins by reading the adminlist.txt file, which is present in every Valheim server. You can access this by logging in to your ValheimServerHosting account and navigating to your server's dashboard. You should be able to see the "Edit Admin List" button. If the button is greyed out, double check if your server is currently subscribed to a payment plan. If you are subscribed to a payment plan and this button is still greyed out, let our team know by clicking on the Crisp Chat message bubble available on the lower left part of the screen.

To add users to the adminlist.txt file, you need to enter the players' steamID64. Rest assured that this value is stored securely within our servers and will only be accessible through your account.

For your security, we will never ask you to log into ValheimServerHosting.com with your Steam account, and we will never ask you to provide your Steam credentials to us. Please be vigilant about keeping your Steam account secure!

Once you've finished creating your server, on the left side of the page, you will see a tab for Mod Manager.

Step 1

Simply click Mod Manager and it will lead you to this page below.

Install Mod

Click Install Mod, and you will be directed to this page below to choose which server you want to install mods into.

Step 2

Select which server you prefer to install mods into.

Step 3

After selecting the server, you will see your selected server's information at the bottom of the page and the currently installed mods in the server.
